Congress to Probe Meningitis Outbreak; Attorneys Ready to Help Victims, Families Affected by Meningitis
As the meningitis outbreak linked to tainted steroid injections continues to spread, two congressional committees have scheduled hearings on the matter for Nov. 14 and 15.
So far, the outbreak has affected more than 400 people and killed at least 30 in 19 states. The illnesses were traced to injectable steroids produced by the New England Compounding Center, a pharmaceutical company that mixes medications not otherwise available in combination. The company has since recalled the steroids and shuttered operations, but not until thousands of vials of the steroids had been shipped to medical facilities in 23 states.
If you developed fungal meningitis after receiving a contaminated steroid injection, a product liability attorney may be able to help you recover financial compensation for resulting medical expenses, lost earnings, pain and suffering, and other damages. Meningitis causes a potentially fatal swelling of tissue in the brain and spinal cord, and treatment can be long and costly.
If a family member died from fungal meningitis after being administered a tainted steroid injection, you and other surviving family members may be able to gain financial peace of mind through a wrongful death lawsuit.
