Former Bears Quarterback Jim McMahon Injured in Car Accident

Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon was injured in a car accident Monday afternoon while being transported by limousine to the Reno-Tahoe Airport. He had been in the Reno area to participate in the American Century Celebrity golf tournament.

The car accident occurred in the middle of the afternoon. According to Nevada Highway Patrol, the limo veered off the highway, drove through a barb wire fence, and landed in a field. The accident stopped traffic on the highway for awhile.

McMahon, his female companion, and the limo driver were all injured in the car accident. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Nevada Highway Patrol said the injuries did not seem serious, and all three of them should make a full recovery.

While the cause of the car accident is still being investigated, Nevada Highway Patrol doesn’t believe alcohol was a factor.

Jim McMahon enjoyed a 15 year career in the NFL, where he played for seven teams. However, he is best known for his role as quarterback of the Chicago Bears during the mid 80s. He enjoyed his greatest success with the Bears and helped lead them to a Super Bowl Championship in 1985.
