“Macho Man” Randy Savage Dies in Car Accident

Last Friday morning, former professional wrestling star Randy “Macho Man” Savage died in a car accident on a Florida highway. He was 58 years old. According to Florida Highway Patrol, Savage was driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler at about 9:25 AM when he lost control of the vehicle. The Jeep crossed a concrete median into on-coming traffic and crashed head-on into a tree on the other side of the road.

Savage was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. His wife, Lynn, was also in the vehicle at the time of the car accident. However, she only suffered minor injuries. It is believed that Savage had a heart attack just before losing control of the vehicle.

Macho Man was one of the brightest stars in the World Wrestling Federation during the 1980s. He became known for his bright-colored robes, giant sunglasses, and his catch-phrase, “Ooh Yeah.” During the height of his career, Macho Man held the title belt and enjoyed fierce rivalries with Hulk Hogan, Ricky Steamboat, and Ric Flair.

In the mid 90’s, Macho Man also appeared in several TV commercials for Slim Jim. He took his talents to the big screen in 2002, landing a small role in the hit movie “Spider Man.” In the movie, he played Bone Saw McGraw, a wrestler patterned after his Macho Man persona.
