National Nursing Home Week
This week is National Nursing Home Week. From May 8 through May 14, nursing homes across the country will be participating in a variety of activities which honor the people that help make our nursing homes positive, caring environments for our nation’s elderly. There are many people who work hard to ensure that nursing home residents receive the care they deserve – staff members, volunteers, family members, and the residents themselves. National Nursing Home Week strives to raise awareness about the important jobs these people do day in and day out.
The aging of the baby boomer population has brought an increase in the number of individuals requiring nursing home care. This has brought a new set of challenges to many nursing homes as they work to provide high quality care for residents.
One of the many challenges facing nursing homes today involves staffing issues. Many facilities lack the staff necessary to accommodate the growing number of residents. As a result, nursing home abuse and neglect has become a major concern at many nursing homes around the country. One of the main purposes of National Nursing Home Week is to raise awareness about the important function provided by nursing homes. Hopefully, this increased awareness will improve resident care and reduce the incidence of nursing home abuse across the country.
If you believe your loved one has been the victim of nursing home abuse, it is important to consult an experienced attorney at once who can help ensure your loved one’s rights are protected.
