Pit Bull Attacks Animal Shelter Worker
An animal shelter worker from Pensacola, Florida has been hospitalized after being attacked by a pit bull in the shelter’s care. The hospital has not yet commented on her condition.
Kathryn Sessions has been working at the local animal shelter for well over a year, and she possessed the necessary skills to handle a potentially violent dog. However, this pit bull was still able to get the best of her. As she attempted to muzzle and leash the dog, he escaped her grasp and started attacking her.
Other animal shelter employees witnessing the incident instantly came to her defense. They restrained and tranquilized the dog as quickly as possible before tending to the injuries suffered by Ms. Sessions.
The pit bull was going to be returned to its owner at the time of the attack. It had originally been brought to the shelter after being involved in another dog bite attack. After this second incident, it will be put down.
