Man Rescues Young Girl in Dog Bite Attack
A 75-year-old man from Dearborn Heights, Michigan played the role of hero last weekend when he rescued a 10-year-old girl from a dog bite attack at the hands of a pit bull.
As the man was walking through his neighborhood, he saw the girl pinned on the ground by the dog as he bit into her. He attempted to separate the girl and the dog. At this point, the dog began attacking him. In response, he kicked the dog in the chest. This only stopped the dog momentarily; shortly thereafter, he resumed his attack on the man.
Both the man and the young girl were scratched and bitten in the attack; however, the girl’s dog bite injuries most likely would have been much more severe if the man had not intervened. The man didn’t realize he had been bitten until after the dog was removed from the scene by Animal Control. He received approximately a dozen stitches in his leg.
The pit bull’s owner insists that this is the first time her dog as ever attacked anyone. According to the dog’s owner, the girl victimized in the attack is a family friend who was playing with other neighborhood children outside the dog owner’s house.
Animal Control officials and local police have informed the dog’s owner that the dog will most likely be put down. Police are also investigating the incident and may potentially file charges against the dog’s owner.
