FDA Cracks Down on Fat-Melting Injections

The FDA is cracking down on fat-melting injections, also called lipodissolve injections, used in spas across the country. These drugs have not been proven to be safe and have not received FDA approval for use, yet many spas are using them anyway.

Lipodissolve injections have become a popular non-surgical alternative to liposuction. The injections are commonly used to dissolve small regions of fat in the arms, legs, and stomach. The FDA has issued warning letters to several spas across the country that currently offer lipodissolve injections. The warning letter criticizes these spas for making false and misleading claims about fat-melting injections which have not been supported by clinical data.

FDA regulators have ordered spas to cease making these claims at once. The spas have 15 working days to inform the FDA of the steps they have taken to address these violations.

If you have suffered an injury as a result of receiving lipodissolve injections or if your procedure did not deliver the results that were promised, you may be entitled to receive compensation through a product liability lawsuit. An experienced attorney can evaluate your claim and advise you on how to proceed.
