Starbucks Coffee Grinder Recall - Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Starbucks announced on June 16 that they would recall one of the grinders sold at Starbucks Coffee Stores and Seattle's Best Coffee stores. The coffee grinder is a potentially dangerous product and can cut users.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the coffee grinder can turn on unexpectedly, even if users have turned the machine off. This poses a risk to users because if the grinder turns on, it can lacerate the hand. So far, there have been about 530,000 coffee grinders sold in the country.
The product titled Starbucks Barista® Blade Grinder or Seattle's Best Coffee® Blade Grinder sold at both the stores from March 2002 until March 2009. So far, there have been 176 reports of the coffee grinder turning on unexpectedly, and three reports of the coffee grinder cutting hands.
