Omaha Teenager Dies in Forklift Accident - Tuesday, May 26, 2009

A teenager from Omaha, Nebraska was working when the forklift he was operating tipped over and pinned him to the ground. The forklift accident crushed the teen's body; he died shortly after reaching a local hospital.

The teen is one of four children and the entire family is now mourning their loss. The forklift accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. and although he was rushed to the hospital, the catastrophic injuries he suffered killed him shortly after arriving.

For most companies, forklifts cannot be operated by anyone under the age of 18. In some agricultural businesses, however, operators can be 16-years-old. In this case, the teenager was only 17 when he was killed. The company the victim worked for manufactures animal and marine fat and oil.
