Man Shoots Self with Nail Gun - Wednesday, June 11, 2008

Phil Kern was using his nail gun to mount lattice on his friend, George Chandler's, deck when a hose on the powerful tool got caught. Kern tried to free the gun and it went off. At first neither man could locate the nail, but later, Chandler saw the nail sticking out of the other man's skull. Chandler said he felt only a "sting."

The men called 911, and an emergency room doctor tried to remove the nail with a pair of pliers, but he was not successful. He then got a claw hammer and successfully removed the nail from the man's head with only a few stitches being necessary.
