Woman Falls From Cruise Ship; Still Missing - Tuesday, May 13, 2008

In Atlantic City, New Jersey, the United States Coast Guard had to stop searching for a female passenger who fell overboard from a cruise ship off the Atlantic coast on Mother's Day. According to the Coast Guard, the ship was 45 miles northeast of Atlantic City when the woman fell overboard around 7:50 p.m. May 11.

The Norwegian Dawn was headed from Manhattan to Bermuda when the 46-year-old woman went overboard. Her name and where she lived has not yet been released. According to a statement made by the cruise line, the ship immediately began a search and rescue operation. On Monday, while the Coast Guard was searching for her, winds were over 50 mph, and the combination of heavy rain and wind prevented the search from continuing.
